I fucking hate those pricks.
I'm sorry that you're not fond of my MOS of choice. Would you care to elaborate on why you don't like 97E's?
Shut the fuck up and read.

Rangers,
Just giving a quick update on my status: I graduated from an independent study(homeschool) program, so I am apparently not eligible for an option 40 contract.
Before you ream me for being anti-social(as I saw on another homeschooler's post), I spent one and a half years in standard high school and then went on independent study so that I could graduate early from high school.
If it comes down to it, it looks like I'll be getting 15 college units and then enlisting.

Correct. As a home schooled GED graduate, you will be required to complete 15 semester hours of college-level work. This requirement has been in place for several years. If you want to earn your place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right place. Prior to proceeding further, please read all the FAQs, as well as selected stickies and threads. There is a wealth of information available to you on this site. Had you followed the advice offered by Ranger Bill and the kilted one, you would have known that you have to be a High School graduate to enlist for option 40.steezy one wrote:Rangers,

I have read the stickies in all of the boards. I had done so before I registered, and again after I registered.
I was under the impression that because my independent study program was an extension of a traditional high school that I would be recognized as a Tier 1 graduate rather than a Tier 2.
Thank you for your time and the information provided.

Steezy One - Ranger Kilted Heathen is a man of few words but he means them and his bite is even worse than his bark. But once again, I will interpret Ranger Kilted Heathen's words for you... :)
What he is saying is that you have been caught in an unfortunate circumstance you could not forsee a couple of years ago. But in any case, and no matter what you do, earning those college credits will serve you well. Best of luck to you, with luck meaning being prepared and getting the opportunity. No go forth and get yourself prepared so you can earn the opportunity of getting a shot at becoming an Army Ranger.
And while you are getting those college credits, spend a good portion of your time, when you are not studying your butt off, visting the forum about physical fitness and getting yourself in shape. Doing that will also serve you well in life no matter what you do. Now go do that while you still have the chance.

I had to do this as well, albeit for an entirely different reason. But nonetheless it helped me focus because I was working towards a goal. My enlistment was the product of months of effort rather than a simple trip to the recruiter's office.steezy one wrote:Rangers,

Make the best of the semester you spend in the classroom. Take classes that will help you in the times ahead and you'll thank yourself later, I promise.Ranger Bill wrote:earning those college credits will serve you well

Rangers,
Update: I had been throwing around the idea of 13F for a while and I made a last minute decision(by myself, not pressured into it) to go for 13F over 97E.
Due to the financial situation I'm in and the fact that the college semester already started and it's too late for me to enroll, I decided that it would be a bad idea to wait for those credits. I know in the long run they would have served me well, but right now this is my only option.
I enlisted on Tuesday as a 13F with airborne. It looks like I'm just going to be busting my ass(not that I wouldn't already be) and pushing as hard as I can for a spot in RIP.
BCT starts September 28th in Fort Sill.

Without an option 40 your RIP fantasy might be a wet dream. That being said, if you get to Airborne school and some bad ass dude with tan beret is asking for volunteers, run people over to get there.
