Hello, Rangers.
I graduated from the Basic portion of OSUT today, I’m with Charlie Company 2/54. I graduated at the top 10% of the company and was promoted to Private First Class. After reading through this forum thoroughly before leaving I was expecting there to be unmotivated and out of shape people. Yet, I was still surprised to see just how many there actually were when I arrived. Yet, during The Forge, we lost a majority of those trainees. My Senior Drill Sergeant said if I get a 300 or above on the next APFT that he would see about getting me a slot at RASP. My PT scores currently are as follows:
APFT Score- 282
Run- 12:15
Pushups- 58
Sit Ups- 83
I’ve been working every night with a guy from my platoon on push ups as those are my weakest point and am very confident that I will be able to meet the standard. I hope by the end of the 22 week cycle to have a 340+ PFT score.

Good job Carter, keep at it. Regiment recruiters have been going to OSUT and getting trainees like you to sign a RASP contract. You have as good a shot as anyone else so take it.

Your 1SG doesn't control slots to RASP. You can volunteer. Contact the Regimental Recruiting Team unless they have already been there and didn't accept you for some reason.Cbrenn99 wrote: ↑May 17th, 2019, 1:16 pm Hello, Rangers.

Ranger Disinfertention,
I was unaware of this. I just started my weekend post pass so I will contact the Regimental Recruiting Team today and will post an update with how it goes.

Rangers,
I contacted the Regimental Recruiting Team and they told me to go through my Chain of Command. I did and they offered me an 18X contract because they felt it would be a better fit for me. I gave it some time and decided to sign an 18X volunteer statement.
I’ve been working on my push ups every day as that’s the only portion holding me back from a 300. I take my 4th APFT on the 10th and should finally be able to reach my goal.

Re: SITREP- Carter
That's an interesting turn of events for you but congrats on getting to volunteer for 18X. You need to do some research on what to prep for and what to expect. The requirements there are vastly different compared to RASP as I understand it. Don't go there and use ignorance as an excuse, no one cares.Cbrenn99 wrote: ↑June 7th, 2019, 5:39 pm Rangers,
