Introduction-Dylan
Hello, my name is Dylan. I am 18 and currently DEPed in as a 68W w/ Opt. 4. Although I was told Opt. 40 is no longer available for 68W (I smell BS, but USAREC confirmed when I called), I am still pushing to become a Ranger Medic because I hate the idea of being cooped up state side--and if I'm going to go out and risk my life, I want to do it with the best. It doesn't take much more than one look at the Ranger's Creed to figure out who they are. I will apply for RASP once I ship (later this year), but I hear the best chance I have for securing a slot will be at Airborne. I'm on week 2 of the 12 Week RASP Program and plan on completing it before BCT and adding on to the workout because I have seen on several threads that the program prepares candidates only for minimum standards. As of roughly a month ago, my APFT scores were 63 PU, 87 SU, and 12:51 2-mile. Once I hit Week 6 of the program, I will update my results for the APFT. My ASVAB is 94 (129 GT) and I am currently in a DE Biology class. Over Summer, I plan to reread Gray's Anatomy and several EMT books my father has lent me. I hope to be able to post SITREPs for RASP and SOCM. Tips for preparation and surviving are greatly appreciated and thank you for having me on the forum!
Re: Introduction-Dylan
Welcome. It's "Ranger Creed", not Rangers Creed. Read much here, PT your ass off.

Re: Introduction-Dylan
Welcome, congrats on being a DEP. Continue PT. Learn and live the Ranger Creed. As for over the summer any A&P book would be good you are looking for an overall understanding of the structure and function of the body, the how and why it works the way it does. Do not get wrapped around the axle with the minor details at first. Build the foundation then fill it in pieces. As for EMT Books look for the latest AAOS one. That is what they are using at AIT. And shoot for the RASP contract at Basic, start there, then AIT, finally airborne. Don't just wait till airborne as for a little while they were not taking volunteers from airborne. So you have to want it and fight for it.

Roger, Ranger cams!
Roger, Ranger Grim666!
Is there anything else I can do to prepare for RASP? I know there's only so much I can do to prepare, but every bit seems to count.

Re: Introduction-Dylan
Welcome Dylan. If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We at armyranger.com take a great deal of pride in the young men who pass through here on their life journey. Please tell us more about yourself. Why do you want to be a Ranger? You have not established a PT baseline to build on, so we look forward to your posting your APFT scores. Most of the questions you might have can be addressed by using the search feature, located on the top right of this page. Please read the FAQs, as well as select stickies and threads. Also, when you read the letters from school thread, you will see that several Ranger Medics earned RASP during IET and AIT. Never, never quit!
