Introduction: BigSwole

Post by BigSwole »

Hi there Rangers, thank for letting me onto this sight; my name is John and I am 25.

I have quite the story to tell, but it's all leading me to be a Future Ranger.

My Father was a Ranger, joined the 2nd Batt in 79'. He missed Grenada by 3 months only because he transfered to the 3rd Old Guard, as a sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknowns. I am still so proud of my Father. Need less to say, he raised me similar to his upbringing when he saw me (joint custody).

I knew how to use declination/inclination and map-reading at 15. Use pace-counters, call in coordinates. We even used bounding overwatches to paintball friends from the neighborhood. Went on Ruck marches through private forests, and had me run tree-to-tree as he tried to shoot me with a BB gun. I loved it all looking back.

However in my late teens my Dad and I broke contact for awhile, and I discovered video games.
I ballooned up nearly 400lbs! At 6'4". I stayed that way until I was 22-23.

I decided enough was enough and I took initiative and action much like my Dad would've. No giving up, when you suffer, good. Keep pushing.
At 24 I lost 150lbs. Now at 240, I decided it's time to move.

I am 6 college credits away from joining (GED due to traveling).
I am married, 1 kid and I want to make them as proud of me as I am of my Dad.
Ill have a Scroll on my arm come hell or high water.
He's older now, and I want him to see me at my Ranger Graduation.

Being apart of this website will not only prepare me, but motivate me in such a great way. Thank you all very much for your time and efforts.

Welcome to this site (your other usage of sight is covered under vision).
Your using in your signature: RLTW & ATW - drop it, you will not use either until you have earned them.
Ranger - RLTW. Or upon completion of BAC or assigned to an Airborne unit - ATW.

Losing 150 from 400 is commendable but 250 is still too heavy for a youngster like yourself. Be under medical treatment for any more weight loss. There are many items to address here I'll let several more Rangers in to aide you.

If your still in contact with your Dad have him register here - he may find a friend or two.

Hey there. Honest mistake, I won't it from here on out. My apologies.

I did strongman for most of my weightloss, I'm actually working on losing unneeded muscle mass as well as the fat. 2-3 months I'll be g2g.

I appreciate the response.
Were on great terms now and I'll definitely tell him.

Have a great day!
