SITREP - luckyonethree
Hi Rangers,
It's been awhile since I've been on this website. I'm turning blue tomorrow and graduating Friday with figs52 and a few others from this site. I scored a 282 on my most recent PFT (58 pu, 82 su, and 12:10 2-miler). Obviously I'm by no means a pt stud. My airborne start date got moved up to Sept. 15 as opposed to Sept. 22, so my airborne graduation date will be Oct. 3 now. The next RASP class classes up on Sept. 26 and starts Oct. 6. Will I most likely only have 3 days of Pre-RASP or would I probably be put in holdover for the next RASP class that classes up Nov. 3 and starts on Nov. 17? Thank you for any insight you may be able to provide. Rangers, I appreciate all the info you have given us access to. Time to knock out this 50m target.
Respectfully,
luckyonethree

Thanks for the SITREP. The leadership is likely trying to make maximum use of training seats by filling BAC early. Never, never quit!

Rangers,
First off, thank you Ranger Steadfast. Ranger Jim, ground week has been easy and the camaraderie within my company is great. I'm going to RASP with an amazing group of guys. I'm glad you men had me working on pullups. The pt test was too easy. I'm sure you already know they replaced the 6 pullups with a 20-second flexed-arm hang. I'm so excited to be jumping in a couple of weeks! I'll have my Jump Wings soon enough.
Respectfully,

Ranger Jim,
Tower week is going well! Qual'd on the SLT and the mass exit 34-ft tower exercise (both are too easy). They're gonna try to get us on the 250 ft. towers tomorrow, but we'll have to see how the weather is. On another note, almost 30 guys were dropped from airborne because of drinking over the weekend. Seven others were day-one recycled into Bravo Co. I believe only one of the guys was Op 40 and the rest were 18x's. Anyway, I can't wait to do my first jump next week. Ready to get this show on the road.

Re: SITREP - luckyonethree
Ranger Jim,
Today we did our two jumps with the T-10D. My first one went well, but during the mass exit jump, an officer and I got completely entangled, and were not able to untangle ourselves, so we landed together. Fortunately, neither of us were injured. Ready to start with the T-11 tomorrow! This is by far the most fun I've ever had.

All too often with entangled jumpers, there are injuries. Well done -- now let's get the rest of the jumps out of the way.luckyonethree wrote:Ranger Jim,

Do not continue hugging officers, they aren't allowed to reciprocate..... something about fraternization with enlisted or the like.
All seriousness aside, I'm glad you weren't injured. It would be great if you could keep giving us weekly updates even after you get to a Battalion.... yeah, yeah I know about training and OP tempo and all that shot, but it only takes about five minutes to log in and type a couple of sentences.

Same shit happened on my second jump. They actually made us lay on the ground where we landed to take pictures.luckyonethree wrote:Ranger Jim,

Great job so far, keep your feet and knees together and you'll survive anything. We had a brand new 1LT show up at C Co 2/75 around 1981, I think he went to 3rd Plt, I was a young PFC in 1st Plt. He came flying through my chute at about mock 5 screaming 'slip away' the whole time. He went through the suspension lines, his chute started to collapse, he fell below me, then mine started to collapse. I reached out and was able to get ahold of him and ask him what the F*** he was doing before I realized who it was. We hit the ground like a ton of crap. SFC Heckard, who was my PLT SGT, was DZSO at the time was there when we hit the ground. He told me to get out of here and then began to chew that young 1LT out as only SFC Heckard could. I never saw that 1LT again.
