During Vietnam, Bargwell was accepted into MACV-SOG after completing Special Forces training and served at the Command And Control North launch site at Da Nang. Bargewell earned the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions during Vietnam while he served with the Recon Team Viper.
Bargewell was commissioned in 1973 and went on to serve as a member of the 75th Ranger Rgiment, commander of Delta Force at Fort Bragg, commander of US Special Operations in Europe, assistant chief of staff for SFOR military operations in Sarajevo, and the director of the center of operations, plans, and policies of the US Special Operations Command.
This is a must watch for anyone out there planning on becoming an officer in any branch of the military. The best officers are those who start from the very bottom and earn their rank, and can understand what it’s like to be a NCM and NCO.
Any grunt will tell you that the officers who are respected the most, are those who have walked in their boots and experienced combat from their point of view. I’d encourage anyone striving to be an officer in the infantry to start from the ground up, and earn your leadership role through blood and sweat.
