Hello and Happy Holidays to all.
I'm a former SSG who commissioned and am currently a 2LT. I was a medic during my first enlistment (korea 1/530rd 1996-1998; ft hood 3/67 1998-2000), then I reclassed as 11B and went to airborne school. Got my E5 & E6 as 11B, and then went into the NG. After a while I went to OCS and was comissioned into the infantry. Went to IBOLC in 2012 & tore my Achille's heel, so heading back there soon.
My grandfather was a Ranger. He was B Co 5th Ranger Bn from 1944 until 1945. He did his Ranger training at Camp Forrest, TN. He was shot twice during the War, once in the hand and once in the head. Survived both and ended up going to Korea in the summer of 1950 (the start of the Korean War), earning a star on his CIB. He died in the service in 1961. I've been trying without much luck to find anyone still alive from his company that may have knew him, so if you know any old Rangers, I'd love to hear about it.
AATW!!

Airborne All The Way.
Rangers Lead the Way, and we Airborne gents go all the way to the chow hall, or guard shack, or all the way to some distant checkpoint to show a General it's still there. Then we get ambushed, and the General leaves on the medevac bird without telling anyone and leaving his M4 in my vehicle.
