Introduction: Charlie
Hello, I am Charlie and I live in Arizona. I am 29 years old, married with two kids (a 1 yr old boy and a 2 yr old girl), and a college graduate with an AA in Culinary Arts and a BS in Business Finance. My life priorities are God, family, and country (in that order). I speak fluent Spanish courtesy of two years I spent as a missionary in Guatemala.
I signed my contract as a 92G with the Airborne Ranger option the Friday before Christmas and ship out on 3/18 to Ft. Jackson. As far as my athletic prowess goes, I've been a middle- and long-distance runner most of my life. I ran track and CC in HS and have been running marathons, 10ks, half-marathons, etc. since then. Most of my success in sports has been due to my ability to out-endure everyone else.
I am at this site for a number of reasons, the largest being my own personal preparation. However, I'm also hoping to read more about what my family can expect when I'm selected to serve in a Ranger Bn.
I'm extremely grateful to all those who take the time to provide so much information to newbies such as myself; I will do everything in my power to return the favor whenever/however possible.

Re: Introduction: Charlie
Thank you, Steadfast (should I refer to you as Ranger Steadfast?). March 18th didn't seem very far off when I signed and since then the days have only flown by faster and faster. This site has a been a great resource but I know you can only prepare so much before you have to jump in and actually experience it all.

Re: Introduction: Charlie
Thank you Ranger Jim. I haven't taken a language test yet; I will ask about it at the recruiting station. My recruiter mentioned it once but said there are so many Soldiers that know Spanish now that it isn't worth the time to do it. Thank you for the link, the responsibilities of each skill level is something I hadn't seen before. I feel very fortunate to have a contract with an MOS that is in my career field with the exact option I was looking for. I was hoping to meet some other DEP's or Rangers with 92G MOS but I don't mind being the guinea pig, either. :D

Re: Introduction: Charlie
Thank you Ranger Jim, I have started memorizing the Ranger Creed and practice yelling it as loud as I can on my way to work in the morning. I've received more than a few odd looks :)

Re: Introduction: Charlie
CharlieRanger1FFV is not Ranger Charlie - you chopped off the rest of his name for your own convenience?elgecko wrote:Thank you Ranger Charlie!

Please don't do that. Ranger CharlieRanger1FFV earned his name the Ranger way. I do not want an apology, just write a Rangers name as they appear. Rangers are proud of their particular heritage because they have earned their names.
Okay now, I've upgraded your title & sent you a PM.
