Slow Starvation

Post by Troglodyte »

Hey, I have the deepest respect for the "old school," but if this continues, inspirational giants or not, I will not be chewing your food for you after the last your teeth are gone...

Acknowledged!

OG:

I acknowledge that I've received fair warning, but I think I'll avoid the risk by paying attention to the hat in question. As a onetime 11th Regiment guy myself (mid-90s, 11th's colors carried by the schoolhouse at Benning), I'll be sure to "Do the Right Thing." (Regimental motto--can we sue Spike Lee for copyright infringement?)

Anyway, seeing the experience levels listed in the signature lines, I will be working hard to avoid being on the wrong side of the "old age and treachery" equation...

Semper Fidelis

Post by Troglodyte »

OG/Lunch:

You're both right, I recognized it (and its similarity to the Marines' motto) as soon as OG I read OG's post. It was Semper Fidelis in my time too.

Must have been a battalion motto, though I can't recall any other battalions having a motto different from their parent regiment.

Harrumph. Can't claim old age in THIS crowd, but definite disorientation/confusion. This will bug me until I remember the full context...
