Introduction for KMANinTX

Post by KMANinTX »

Hello Rangers, Vets, and future soldiers.

I'm a prior-Navy Electronics Tech... ET2 (SW/AW). 94'-02'. Spent 4.5 yrs aboard the USS Inchon (02' Decom). Those Marines lurking here may know the ship since it carried all their helos and gear around the world for many years (Gator-Navy).

Figured I've sailed the 7 seas, and now it's time to walk the rest of the planet.

April Fools Day I swore-in with the TX ARNG. ~10 yr break in service, but still came back in as a Sgt. I had it put on my contract that I am going to the newly stood-up unit in Gatesville, TX. I came in to be in a high-speed unit, and that's what I got. I leave for WTC July 6th. I'm currently drilling with a local unit until I leave. I have a busy year ahead of me.

(4 wks) WTC weapons training/land nav Ft Sill, OK
(1 wk) WLC Ft Sill, OK
(25 wks) MOS training (94F) Ft Gordon, GA
(3 wks) Airborne School Ft Benning, GA
(10 days) Air Assault School Ft Cambell or Benning

Even though I am in a Non-combat MOS, I have just recently been told (actually this weekend) that ALL NCOs will be Ranger qualified. I guess I always thought you had to be in a combat MOS to go....apparently not. One of the reasons I'm starting my research early. I will be 41 in May. I currently can pass the the APFT at the 17-21 level, but I know that is a start point for my training for the next year until I add Ranger school to that list. I know I have a huge hill in front of me and look forward to researching your site for answers and hopefully support should I need it. Really looking forward to being fully qualified in this battalion.

Thanks in advance,
KMAN
