Introduction - Want to join the 160th
hey guys,
Im just introducing myself obviously.. I joined the army and ship may 17th and my MOS is 68W. I will apply for the 160th while I'm in AIT.
I am currently married and 20 years old. I have tons of questions about the 160th and the training leading up to it (AB school, green platoon, SOCM) so I hope this is the right place to get all my 160th questions answered.
thats about it, can't wait to leave and start training!!
thanks
Landon

No, that is not the name of this site. I iw as told on another forum (http://forums.military.com/eve/forums/a ... 5051924461" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) that there was a moderator on here who is a Night Stalker, and I was hoping to learn from people who have been where I want to go. I have a lot of questions and would very much appreciate some help on getting an Idea of what it's like and what the training is like. Very humble and respectful stance I'm taking. If this is the response I get just from introducing myself, then I will just not be a part of this forum and get my answers when I'm a Night Stalker.

Congratulations for enlisting to serve our country. I don't understand why you seem so touchy to Ranger Slowpoke's humor, but this is a Ranger site and sometimes our sense of humor is not understood. Good luck in reaching your goals.

Future Soldier, thanka you for enlisting and serving. Expect dry and blunt humor to be given to you often, it is just the way the Army is. You will catch a lot of bullshit just for being the lowest enlisted. You give your time, and then when the next FNG shows up, he catches the shit. Good luck to you.

Hey yourself, Landon.
Starting with an intro line in this forum of "Hey guys" is not likely to endear you to anyone here.
It is best you read a bit more on how things work here, esp. if you want truly helpful advice.

If you are this easily put off by a comment watch out for what you have coming in the path you have a desire to follow. You need to develop a thicker skin if you hope to survive among those whom you wish to serve.landon68w wrote:Very humble and respectful stance I'm taking. Re: Introduction - Want to join the 160th
Night Stalkers are glorified taxi drivers.........
And expect a waiting list for Green Platoon. If you make it to the 160th, you will be a "Snowbird" until given a class date. Try to survive until then. Once you go to Green Platoon, you will get a little smoking and a lot of shooting done (not that I have ever been myself). I will tell you that you will have to get much thicker skin, because the little humor that was shown earlier is nothing compared to what you will receive there. Hell, they still tape soldiers to chairs and parade them around for being in the wrong area (I will go on record and say that I have never seen nor participated or even heard of these alleged actions to which I speak as the black Chinook would then have to come and get me). That is all that I may or may not know....

Re: Introduction - Want to join the 160th
not that I don't have thick skin, I just didn't understand it to be a joke that's all. I had a defensive stance just at first coming to these forums and saw that comment and didn't think you rangers we're much of jokers... but now that I started off on the wrong foot and maybe pissed a couple guys off... can you guys help me out?! haha
