Welcome Dad. I'm a Mom. ... with a Ranger in the 2nd too. Great to have you here, I'm figurin' your son is eating the same dirt as mine.

(Mine did it for the great Army pay )

Welcome.

I'm know that there are many reasons why some choose to serve and some of those that strive to be the best.
Based upon your intro I would bet that your son didn't come by his values all on his own. Thank you for raising one of the best.

Welcome here, Jay.

I agree with Al (above). We all know that the influence of parents and family have a significant impact on the way that children turn out. "Thank you" to you and your family for providing your son with the character to undertake his route, and thank him, for us, for carrying on the tradition.

We all had other Rangers who came before us, and without your son and the other young men like him, our tradition wouldn't be carried into the next generation(s).

Welcome to ArmyRanger.com. Sounds like you have reason to be proud of your son. You did a good job of making him into a man and nurturing that "Wild heart".

Ha ha, panthersix. I guessed someone would figure out my username. I was both, but mostly -- and in my heart firstly -- a forward. I coached forwards for a few years, too. When I was young and fit, played wing forward and eight man. When I was older and a bit "stockier" played mostly prop. Haven't played in a couple years, though.

OK, as long as you had some prop time, I'm cool with ya ;)

I was loose head prop for a long time. I still have some cauliflower ears from playing tight head prop in Canada. The Canuks have a wicked tight pack! I learned a lot up there. They do so me very hard headbutting in the front row too.

I also played a Maryland and then club for a while. I miss it!

Glad to have A REAL man on the boards ;)

LOTS of prop time!Played loose and tight head and I've got a little quasimodo thing going on behind my head to prove it. Touch, pause enGAGE! (ouch!)

Damn, I wonder, panthersix if I'll ever be able to write/talk/read about rugby and not get freaking goosebumps. Seriously. I read your post and I just want to scrum up and have the eff at it, you know? I saw "Invictus" on Christmas Day and I swear I was trying to get co-workers to kit up in the snow outside of work.

I envy your international experience. Closest I came to playing in another country was when we'd go to Jonesboro, Ark., and play rugby in a dry county. Truly foreign, weird shit, that.

I helped start the club in Cape Girardeau, MO. (Go Scorpions!) and moved away a couple years before the team went to Wales for the World Cup in 1999. They played local clubs during the day, went to WC matches in the afternoon/evening, then hit the bars at night. Yeah, I know. I'm sure it sucked.

Good to meet another rugger among all the great folks here!

Free beer for all the RUGGERS! We had our own groupies at the Univ of MD when I was there :) That was fun. Playing on the Mall in DC with equal amounts of snow and mud was awesome. I played one game in Texas for the SA Armadillos when I was in Officer Basic. The ground was harder than hell and it was hot as hell too with these little spur things all over the ground.

We could probably tell Rugby stories all damn day! Now that I'll be 50 soon, I may play in a couple of old boys games with my old club in Canada.....then again maybe not! lol
