Shipping Out
After 11 months from swearing in, i'm finally shipping out tommorow. I joined the Army for the oppurtunity to become a Ranger and I will settle for nothing less. Thanks for this amazing website that has given me the necesssities needed to drive on to my goal. I'll post SITREP's whenever I can.

Re: Shipping Out
Rangers, It's been quite along time since posting a SITREP because of my lack of a computer. In a nut shell, things did not quite work out, 8 weeks into Basic I learned the hard way that my varicocele was symptomatic, and while standing in formation for nearly two hours my left testicle "ruptured". I won't go into detail with that, but it was pretty much an instant medical discharge. I'm not happy with the way it turned out. I've been calling recruiters frequently as to how I can get back into the Army. I'm getting surgery soon hopefully and after that I have a 6 month recovery wait to even be able to enlist again which is understandable. To my understanding an OPT.40 contract is a slim to none chance with my circumstance, but if I can even get an 11x contract that will be fine with me, and I find no shame in that. I went into Basic not physically prepared, had troubles putting on weight. I'm 6'1'' and weigh about 125-130 pounds. I'm hoping this gives me the time to push even harder to put on more weight. I'll continue posting SITREPS once reenlistment time comes.

The good news is that you don't have cancer of the balls. The bad news is, the French Foreign Legion costs a plane ticket to Paris......hint, hint ;)

Re: Shipping Out
Getting surgery in two weeks, I'll have my manhood back 99.9% back. I also talked to my recruiter who told me I have 6 months to wait for the surgery to recover, grab a quick waiver, and I'll be back in business for 11B. I'll gladly do the training again if that gives me the opportunity to be a soldier again.

I'm glad you're hanging in there...get it...hanging in there...bwahaha
Any how, they gave me a waiver for my knee which was completely reconstructed three years before I enlisted. I still have a wicked scar.
You going to post pics of your scar?

Re: Shipping Out
A varicocele is only a DQ if it causes pain, right?
I had a varicocelectomy about 9 months ago and am speaking to a recruiter next week. It used to ache a bit, but now doesn't at all.
I hope you have a quick recovery.

Re: Shipping Out
Yes sir, unless you have a varicocele on "both" sides. I'm no doctor but the rules and regulations of waivers in the Army say If it's asymptomatic then you should be fine, but they only care if it's symptomatic. I got surgery about 2 weeks ago and I already feel a lot better, I'm gonna go take to my recruiter again soon to see when it's possible, if possible, to get another contract. I don't think you should worry about anything, every doctor that gave me a physical completely ignored that I had a varicocele, most likely because it's so common. But obviously, you should still let him know you had surgery done on it, because he will most likely notice the scar. Better to be safe then sorry, but over all if I was in your situation I wouldn't worry too much, and good luck.
