Signing?
Signing?
Hi again, Rangers. I've now fully gained the approval of both of my parents to sign for early enlistment. I've talked with my recruiter personally and the topic of signing bonuses came up. I agree with what he stated, being able to sign for Airborne and Ranger training within itself was enough of a bonus. I'm fully satisfied with a possible contract, as I feel lucky just to be able to obtain a 68w/opt40 contract itself. Although, I wouldn't want to miss out on things that I could possibly obtain. I would like to go in armed with the greatest understanding of this process as possible, so I've come here with my questions, as I feel this will be the best, most unbiased source I will find. My question is, is there a set amount that one seeking this contract can get? Can anyone tell me how much to expect? By the way, my ASVAB score was a 72, with 111 GT, if that helps any.

Re: Signing?
Are you talking enlistment bonus? When I enlisted, I passed up a $10,000 bonus that the 82nd was giving to get a Ranger Contract ( with no bonus at all). That was back when planes were chiseled from stone, though.

Re: Signing?
Yes sir, Ranger Earthpig. I'm asking about enlistment bonuses. My recruiter was just saying there is no negotiating when it comes to enlistment bonuses. I understand I'm asking a lot of the Army, but I'm willing to give all of myself to them if need be. I honestly would just take the bare contract, but I know there is some sort of enlistment funds, I'm just looking to maximize that.

Re: Signing?
On my first enlistment I got $800. It was almost twice my base pay!! :D
I bought an Ultra Match Springfield M-1a, a soft case and a hard case and still had money left over :D :D

Re: Signing?
When did you first enlist, Ranger Kelley? Oh yeah, I know they offer $500 per month for early enlistment up until when you ship for basic. I'm sure if I sign now, they'll take me like right out of graduation (around June). By the way, always wanted an old school M-14 myself . What kind of optics do you have on it?

I agree completely with you, Ranger Bill. I would be willing to sign the bare contract itself, but a little enlistment funds wont hurt to obtain.
