People said the same type of thing during Clinton's first round as the POTUS. Then he was reelected the second time and there was more of the same talk about us heading down the road to rebellion. It didn't happen and while I am not psychic I seriously doubt it will happen under BO.BadMuther wrote:Obama knows he's pushing people towards a rebellion. No matter how much some of dislike the current policies of the White House, there are many who do. This is just another aspect of the ebb and flow of politics. No POTUS is ever going to please everyone. While some people hailed what Bush did or even Reagan for that matter, there were many liberals who stated that it was time for an uprising by the people. Hell, how many times has Alec Baldwin and others said they were going to leave the country due to conservative government policies. The same is true now.
Unless the POTUS and the government go way off the deep end it will never happen. And going off the deep end consists of doing a lot more than our mostly conservative minds think is needed to initiate such actions. While I don't like it, assault weapons were banned before, then they were unbanned. As before they may be banned again, but then I would fathom to guess there is a good chance of unbanning them after. However, there is always the chance that they will use a more intelligent method and not ban assault weapon, rather they will you increased taxes, stricter regulations, etc..., to make buying them more of a pain in the ass than most people are will to deal with.
No matter what BO says and does, it will take a pretty far leap for him, or anyone to push the US into mass civil unrest. The bottom line is that, even with him in office and all the problems we think we have, the US is still a damned great place to live. Our country has weathered conservative and liberal storms before and I am confidant it will continue to do so.
IMHO, at the most, the current policies will cause conservatives to unite and vote in a candidate of their choosing down the road as happened with Reagan. That will last until that conservatives piss off the liberals enough to have a repeat performance of this past November. It all like the tide, ebb and flow.
