Civilian Introduction

Hello, I'm a 19 year old high school grad looking to become an Army Ranger. I'm extremely appreciative of this site and it's information, and I've looked around and still have some questions.
1. I've read about option 40 in your contract, what exactly is option 40, and what does it entail?
2. I've also read something about RIP, could someone please explain that to me?
I'm just trying my best not to get screwed by a contract I don't want.

An option 40 is a clause in your contract that ensures you will be assigned somewhere in the 75th Ranger Regiment upon successful completion of training.

RIP ensures that those that don't have what it takes to be Rangers don't get there.....
