Fort Carson ,CO Martial Arts Scammer

Post by bswarm18_7 »

Hello fellow veterans,

I am on your forum today because i'm in need of your help. I am conducting research and investigation on a man who calls himself Commanding Operative Coal Akida. Commander Coal Akida is not an 0-5 in the Navy but is actually a "martial arts instructor" (i'm using that term very loosely). He has his own webiste http://fearnopunch.com/ and recently he has made allegations to have been conducting training at Army Base Fort Carson Colorado. I myself am a former sailor but now a civilian and a member of http://www.bullshido.net/ which is a website devoted to debunking martial arts myths and those who claim to have all the answers. Needless to say Commander Coal Akida has been in our sights for a while and if you you are a Mixed Martial Arts fan you'll find his website very entertaining.

Commander Coal Akida has claimed that back in August of 2008 that he had visited Fort Carson and conducted traininng with Army Rangers and presumably other military personnel. I am first of all looking to see if this statement is true that he did indeed come to Fort Carson. If anyone here was stationed at Fort Carson during 08/08 or had a friend stationed there during that period and has any knowledge of what i'm talking about. I really doubt Rangers need extra instruction from a Joe Schmuck civilian on anything.

The reason that I am investigating this matter myself is that I am a fellow veteran. I served as Master at Arms (MP) in the Navy from 07/03 to 07/07 and as far self defense training went for me it was pretty poor but after seeing what Coal Akida has to offer I would feel much safer with my original training and I fear that he might literally put soldiers lives in jeopardy by giving them some kind of false self confidence in his "system". I am not an expert of martial arts. I have trained in muay thai and Jiu-jitsu for a total of 2 years so its safe to say i am not an expert. However I do have common sense and it tells me that this guy is so full of it that its coming out of his ears. You won't see it on his website but Commander Coal Akida had a challenge that he would give you $50,000 if you could punch him in the face. From what I can recall he had that on his website for a good while but eventually took it down when members of Bullshido.net wanted to take him up on his offer. Since then it has disappeared. If you have a martial arts background yourself feel free to give your interpretation of his "systems" and how effective you think it would be.

If anyone has contacts in Fort Carson or has any info please reply so that I can talk to you and get some information. This isn't some scam to get your SSN or anything like that I am just looking for answers and I hope to build enough evidence to at least make him withdraw such claims on his website. If you're a member of any other military forums then you will probably see this exact post again because i'm too lazy to retype or rephrase all this. I've got a feeling that this will be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Thank you.

Wow! That guy is hands down, the baddest dude on the entire planet! I was frightened just watching his video. I'm gonna have nightmares forever now. I want his face to be my avatar. Damn. I wish I could be like him.

I'm thinking that if I was sitting around the fire at the Ranger Ranch, and randomly picked any drunk in the circle, he would pulverize that chump in less than two minutes. But hey, what do I know.....

Okay so its safe to say that the guys technique and theory are questionable. You'll have to forgive me since I'm former Navy so I don't totally understand how your unit structure and stuff works but I have a few more questions to ask.

1. Is it possible to be assigned to a Ranger Unit without actually being a Ranger? Example: A medic or supply guy gets attached to the division.

My theory on #1 is that if Coal Akida indeed goes to Colorado and somehow managed to get on the base and offer free courses because I seriously doubt even Uncle Sam would pay this guy to come and teach. Anyway Coal Akida gets on the base for a day or two and basically just hands out free copys or tries to sell copys of his instructional dvd to soldiers. He runs into a medic/supply guy attached to a Ranger company and since your command patch is sewn on to your upper arm Coal sees the Ranger patch and can now claim that he taught Army Rangers.

2. Do Reserve or National Guard units go through Fort Carson for any training prior to deployment? Does Fort Carson offer any specialized training that the other bases don't?

The only way I can really see The Commander getting access into the base is that some E-1 with a car drove him onto the base and was his escort while he wheeled and dealed trying to sell his stuff. Otherwise he has a friend in the service who is stationed on the base.

3. I've already been told on some other military forms that their are no Rangers stationed or attached to Fort Carson so I guess my next question would be even though I doubt it .. are there any Reserve Ranger units? Sounds like a stupid question but I have to ask it.

If the 2 above theories are wrong the only other possibility is that Commander Coal has a friend and or business partner who owns a dojo/gym and let Coal Akida come out and do a seminar. He comes to Colorado and does some seminar stuff with the regular students and then probably posts free or discounted lessons to military and once again tries to sell his DVD set which costs $197 on his website. I'm already looking into Martial arts gyms that are near Fort Carson and looking for the ones that do more self defense rather then traditional martial arts.

Answers would be appreciated thank you.

Hmmmm... I don't know just what to say.

I seem to recall a rather painful lesson in the art of parrying taught to me by DC Ranger. (I learned just exactly what a "standing 8 count" was..) The guy instructing us was a non-tabbed SSG from the 2 shop at the time. He was a former college level golden glove boxer. I'd bet he would have "Commander Cock and Balls" crying like a little bitch in short order when he tries to block punches to the inside.

I'm not saying I could do it, but someone who really knows boxing could.
