Intro From grj5001

Post by grj5001 »

My name is Greg and I am 21 years old. I am in my senior year of college at Penn State and I recently signed an 11B option 40 contract. I joined this site to gain every advantage in knowledge I could to be able to become a U.S. Army Ranger.

Good initiative.

GRj5001, make sure you read and heed that PM. It'll help you navigate this site without turning it into a virtual minefield.

Your best bet is to answer the question you were asked, with some thought put into your response.

Welcome to ArmyRanger.com and thank you for enlisting.

Sure like that school. Have a nephew there now, senior, and another who is a Freshman. Good on you, bud. Good school, good plan, good luck. 8)

I joined the Army to make something of myself. I chose to follow the path of an Army Ranger to push myself to a level of mental and physical toughness that right now I can only imagine. I had the opportunity to accept a commission, but turned it down because in my mind I had no right commanding troops when I had never been in their place. I enlisted in the Army to become a Ranger and to learn how to follow and lead from the best soldiers in the world. I feel that achieving this level of excellence will permit me to command properly and to have the respect of the men I could someday lead. Army Rangers have the highest standards and if I am going to expect the best I first have to achieve the best. I want to become an Army Ranger to push myself to my very limits in hopes that I can join the ranks of the 75th and fight for my country.

PT Scores:
2 mile run: 15:42 (Cross Country)
2 minute push -up max: 89
2 minute sit-up max: 70
Pull-up, dead hang, no time limit: 15

Current PT score= 250

Greg,

Make sure you read the ROE PM that you were sent. Address Rangers accordingly. Consider requesting a mentor, what's your ship date?

Ranger Invictus,
Sorry I was asked by several Rangers about why I wanted to join so I sent it impersonally to the place in the forums where I was asked.
I don't know how to go about requesting a mentor but if thats a possibility I am all for it. My ship date isn't definite becuase of school. I renogotiated my contract so that I could graduate so I will ship sometime in August or September.
