That fucking blows, but as CloakandDagger mentioned, there are other ways to serve. Good luck with whatever path you take.

Don't beat yourself up. It's just a bad break, nothing you wanted or planned.

Take a step back and keep things in perspective.

Drive on and do good things.

Not good news but could be worse..

I too am sorry to hear of your plight, your diagnosis and your dissapointment...

You are obviously meant for a different calling.. and... in the grand scheme of health issues... it could be much worse..

Be thankful that your condition is manageable and sieze this opportunity to excel in another direction...

Good Luck,

A little update

Post by Table of Elements Skater »

Rangers, Deps, and everyone else,

A little update. When Physical Therapy wasn't helping and I started getting more pains in my leg and ass, I went back to my doc. He sent me for an MRI. The results showed that I have a bulging disc also. I was prescribed This brace thing that I'm supposed to wear all the time. Well, I have been using this thing for almost a month now. When I strap myself up, my back pain goes away. So ive come the the conclusion that all the pain ive been having has been from this bulging disc. The Doc said its possible For the disc to repair itself if the cells are still "good". So if this brace thing works out theres a good change all my back pain will go away. Ive kept in contact with my recruiter through out this whole ordeal, keeping him informed and what not. What im getting at here is if this pain goes Theres still a possibility with the help of a waiver that I can get in. Im anxious to see how this will work out. In the mean time, ive applied to college and starting class this coming January.

Thanks,
T.O.E.S.

Good luck. That sure explains the leg pain. I'm afraid that you will always have problems with that disc....but then again, I'm no doctor. If your doc says it might go away if you wear a brace for awhile, give it a try.

TOES,

PM me. I might be able to assist by pointing you in the direction of some public services /vocational rehabilitation.

Use your mind, you can still serve in other agencies. The intell community needs smart people with desire and drive.
Exactly. You are a good dude, smart and articulate - you'll fit right in.

Here’s another update Rangers, Vets, & DEPs

My back pains have increasingly gone away the past month. I’m starting to feel better. I still have days where there’s a noticeable amount of pain, but it’s a start. I’ve started going to the gym again, and feel like its really helping me out. I’m taking it easy, but not pussy easy. I’ve been staying away from anything that could tweak my back and just really focusing on building a strong core. I’m more determined to enlist and become part of the Army more than I ever was before. Even if 18x or anything else "high speedâ€

I am sorry to hear that buddy.

If you love the service alot, i know that i worked along side
with alot of Civilians when i was in the Service during my
Navy days, hell there were civlians that went to sea with
us as testors, even gunnery system testors.
Im telling you where there is a will there is a way.
I worked for a Year and a Half with Civilians at
the Naval Telecomunications Station in San Deigo
in Intellegence. The top guys were all civliians.

Im just saying if you are bent on the Service there are
civilian jobs that can put you in with them.
Just a thought check it out. They are GS jobs mostly, and
they do hire people with disablities.
