I went enlisted, not commissioned, so I don't know how older officers are looked at. I can tell you that older enlisted men get tested (I was 30 when I went in, as an E2). There are those who make it their hobby to break you and run you off. In the end, if you can take it, and your performance is better than average, you will be looked upon with respect. Ranger Puck said it about as plain as it can be said.
