It depends on how much lower you would score. I believe the minimum for a combat arm's MOS is a GT score of 90. When i took the asvab i didnt study for it, and scored a 37 overall and a 98 GT(terrible). So dont worry about scoring too low to get infantry, but high enough to get RIP. I can't answer your question about the chances of attending RIP without it in your contract, but im sure its a lot lower then 99%. But what the hell do i know? Though, when I go to MEPS and if i qualify, im going ot hold out for a option 40 contract.

Actually the minimum score for any CA MOS other than SF is 90 CO. SF having a manditory 100 CO. You should probably do some reading on how the ASVAB and line scores work.
