When did they stop requiring a hands-on SQT, Ranger Speedracer?
I enlisted in '86, and I cannot remember taking one, just the annual written exam.

It was a Muther back in the 70's.. of course everything was harder back then! :D

Now that was bullshit. I for one took the EIB five times, and still don't wear one. Made it through the SQT hands on to the EIB roundout stations every time, and got knocked out for one thing or another each and every time. One year is was call for and adjust fire, another it was the movement under fire (so many failed that lane that year that they retested it, but I was in RS at the time :x Did five ruck marches, everything. They gave no slack at all. Maybe five to ten EIBs per Company were awarded each go around. Having an EIB in BN back then was something. Definately EARNED.

I got mine at 2/75 as a PFC and spent the next three years grading on Noble Hill.

You want to know how to piss off a SL and make an enemy for life?

Dont remember the exact time when it changed but if i guessed i would say around 82-83 :?:
