question about RIP

Post by madsmarty »

Good morning everyone. I have a question, I know someone that did not go through RIP but instead put in an application to Ranger School. He was selected and did the 9 weeks and passed. Do you have to go through RIP to become a Ranger? Does rank have anything to do with it? Also what is the differnce between the "Airborne Ranger" and "Ranger"?

The search button can sometimes be frustrating. If you do not get any responses you may have to reword the question, even a few times. Most of the answers are there.

The information is there, I assure you. It may be better if you take the time to read all the threads in the RIP forum, as well as the Ranger School and 75th Ranger Regiment forums, because some of the answers you get will depend on whether you are speaking to a Ranger that serves in the 75th Ranger Regiment, or to a Ranger School Graduate that has never served a single day in the Regiment.

I would start by reading the DEP FAQ's, and proceed on to the previously mentioned forums. Your questions are common ones, and they have been asked and answered here many times before. Plus, you will surely answer many of the other questions you have or will have in the process.

RIP pertains to Soldiers in the Ranger Battalions.....Yes, you could go to Ranger School from another unit and be Ranger Qualified,(provided you graduate) but, to know the real deal you need to be assigned to a Ranger Battalion!
Only then will you truley understand the madness! or, mindset if you will.
