Is this a good PT routine

Post by Ryan655 »

Hello, Rangers

Just wondering if what im doing is going to be good enough for RIP and so on. I have been doing an endurance/stamina lifting/running routine for about 2 months now and I was wondering if this has been the right path to be taking.
Full body workout every other day except sunday
Weight x sets x reps
Power Cleans
165x3x10
Pull ups
2xfailure
flat bench
215x3x10
DB Rows
60x2x10
Squats
335x3x10
Situps
2xfailure
I do this routine everyother day
Running schedule was like this
every thursday= Long run starting at 40 minutes for first week
week 1-40 min
week 2- 50 min
week 3- 60 min
week 4- 70 min
week 5- 80 min
week 6- 90 min
Then i take a week off and start another cycle.
Sorry for the long post I just was wondering if any Rangers could tell me if im on the right track or not. Thank you for all the help and I will proceed to knock out pushups right now just incase.

Be sure you can max out an Army PT exam, make that 110%, just so you can make it past the RIP cadre without hearing........NO GO!!!!!!

I would start doing more body weight exercises and running. Make sure you are running on hills and mix some sprints in.
You should be making sure that your running, push ups, pull ups and situps are in order.
If you still want to do weight lifting then pick two exercises like power cleans and military presses or squats and flat bench presses and do some low volume( low rep, low sets) work. Don't let the weigths take priority over the body weigth and endurance p.t.
