Ever since I came home, I have wanted to build a bolt gun similar to the M-24. It's only taken me six friggin' years, but finally the first stage is complete.
She's a Remmy 700 PSS, .300 Win Mag, 26" free floated heavy barrell with recessed crown, HS Precision (non adjustable) stock, Harris Bipod, IOR Valdada tactical base and rings, IOR Valdada 2.5-10x42mm tactical optic with illuminated MP-8 (modified mildot) reticle, and a trigger job set to a crisp 4lbs.
Obviously, I have deviated from the M-24 setup a bit, mainly due to my preference for IOR over Leupold optics. IMO, IOR give equal, if not superior performance, better glass, and a cheaper price than the Loopy Mk IV M3 optics.
Future upgrades will consists of sending her off the have her bedded into a McMillan A-5 stock, have the barrell replaced with either a Hart 5R (as on the M-24), Kreiger, or Walther custom barrell. And naturally, have the barrell and action trued up for optimum accuracy. Still, as is at this point, I am getting consistent MOA or better groups.
Ain't she purdy?
Finally, she's alive

Currently, I just shoot Federal Gold Medal Match 190-gr BTHP. The down side is that feeding the .300 with commercial match ammo will run you about $1.25 per round in my AO. So, I have began to get set up to load my own, but am not up and running yet. I still have a few things to buy (dies, case trimmers, etc.), and am still reading manuals trying to learn how to do it.
When it comes to handloading, I'm a cherry.

I belong to a range the has a 1000yd KD range. Also, in the winter months when the rivers and lakes have lower water levels, my buddy and I go out and shoot at a particular place where we can get shots at even longer ranges. Although I haven't fired this rifle past 1000yds yet, on the river banks I can get shots out to as much as 1600yds when the water is low.
