Re: All checked in to Airborne School!

PS, I picked up a pair of sorbothane insoles http://www.sorbothane.com/insoles.php for my summer boots. I figured it would help with bone jarring impacts of the incredibly slow jogging we've been doing here. They were suggested by a Drill Sergeant I had who was Special Forces. Any word on if these a...

All checked in to Airborne School!

After inprocessing for two days (Thursday and Friday) I'm finally good to go! We've had the weekend off so I've just been relaxing and organizing all of my gear. I'm not gonna get used to the relaxed enviornment, I can't imagine what would happen if I say "clear Sergeant" to a RIP Cadre me...

Re: Long OSUT SITREP...

Well, I'm back in Columbus! I'm sharing a hotel with 2 other guys from my OSUT platoon who are also reporting to Airborne. We don't report back until late tomorrow night, but I'll be sure to post any useful information during the inprocessing for Airborne deal. HRAP wasn't fun at all. The whole time...

Re: Sit Rep

Rangers, In OSUT I was issued Belleville 390's, one of our Drill Sergeants who was Special Forces recommended buying a pair of Sorbothane Ultra-Work Sport insoles. http://www.rxsorbo.com/ins_ultra_work_sport.php My question is, are these authorized for RIP? If not, what insoles are? I'm having a har...

Re: Ranger History

Wow, this is very ironic. I just saved all of the history section to study off of from the Ranger Regiment's Army.Mil site. This will give me something to study while on leave.

Re: Sit Rep

Hmmmm, I'm reporting back to Airborne on the 6th (ariving on the 5th), I wouldn't be surprised if I don't actually start until late January... Maybe we'll be in the same class? Congratulations!

Re: Step one complete. OSUT

Hey man! I remember you from the Atlanta Airport, but after that it was kind of hard to keep in touch. Looks like we'll be going through Airborne and RIP together! See you on January 5th!

PS, that's at least 3 of us in our company from this site, that seems like more than usual...

Long OSUT SITREP...

Last Friday, after 16 ½ weeks (including 30th AG), I finally graduated from Infantry OSUT. It felt good to when my dad pinned on my blue cord! Because of the delay at 30th, my OSUT company graduated at a weird time. All of us who have any kind of airborne contract were put on a little over 4 weeks o...

Re: Done with FTX...

Rangers,

I am home now until January. It's great to be home, but I honestly can't wait to start the real training!

Done with FTX...

Finished the 1 week FTX and my company is now done with all training. Waiting another 12 days until graduation. They are giving everyone in my company a little over 4 weeks of leave. I leave for home on Dec. 6th, and come back for Airborne Jan. 6th. I'm out of time but I'll try and update later!

This week we're going on our 5 night FTX and then we are done with our training! I believe we are doing our 12 mile ruck march out to our FTX location. PT test Monday, I've been working for that 300 so hopefully all the work will pay off!

I also wanted to add that Maximus, a DEP from this site, is actually in my platoon. We didn't find out who eachother were until about week 3. Pretty funny coincidence!

Haha, when I was at 30th AG for 2 1/2 weeks, we spent our last two nights in the F. Co. 2-54 bay. You guys have a bad ass desk. Good luck!

36 Hour Pass...

Rangers, I have finished the 'Basic' portion of 11B OSUT and it really is just that, basic. With only 5 weeks (3 of actual training) I'm excited to start really learning some real infantry stuff. Don't get me wrong, the basic stuff is important and it was all new to me, it just is starting to feel k...

OSUT Week 7 SITREP...

Time here is really flying by. The days are slow, but the weeks really go fast. In a little over two weeks I'll be done with the basic portion of OSUT. Today we fired the M249, and M240B machine guns. Those two weapons are awesome! Unfortuanely, the SAW that I used jammed after every 3rd round I put...
