Just because everyone LOVES videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS12baXecHE&mode=related&search= Karo. He brings the Judo to UFC. And he isn't above using a bum rush. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBZEuJAG3AQ Just Judo. But I love the soundtrack. Some of these would be KO's if it wasn't ...

An observation after watching those video clips, you martial arts gurus can correct me if I am wrong. If two strikers fight is there not a brief period where both size up the opponent. Maybe some feints or whatnot. Then the fight is on. It seems like all the strikers in the videos were just waiting...

Those videos are neat. They are not in any way indicative of a grappler that's never trained against a striker, though, which was the entire point of my earlier comments. The Gracies don't really train against strikers per se. They train Jiu Jitsu. They just use it against strikers. Take someone th...

Lets be real here - as I said before the chances of hand to hand combat for a soldier is pretty damn rare. And how do you know this? Pretty damn rare for a guy thats entering a room and gets blindsided by a haji with a knife before he can level off with is rifle? Or a guard handling a terrorist try...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjXUCjLgyis&search=BJJ%20karate This is a great clip. It is a challenge match where ANYTHING goes. Eyegouges and all. You can see the Karate man immediately go for the eyegouge after the clinch/takedown. You then see him trying to go for some kind of neck grabbing ...

Guess I hit the nerve of a non-believer. Went straight for the grammatical attack and finished with the ad hominem. I'm reeling. I would say that grappling with someone 80lbs heavier doesnt exactly mean they are a grappler. Even the most primitive retards on the planet will try to throttle you when ...

I suspect I am like most guys. I won't know my nose is broken until after the fight is broken. I wouldn't notice a missing tooth until my adreneline rush is gone. It is human nature and the physiology of humans to be able to endure/ignore pain in stressfull situations. A Judo man is still a man. Th...

Please forgive my absence. I have a good excuse that is very relavent to the topic at hand. I went to California to compete at the OTM Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Submission Wrestling competition. Although it sounds like I am tooting my own horn, I think it does bring some credibility to my statements: ...

I respectfully disagree with much of what you wrote. Let me explain why. A lot of my opinions about Judo may have been formed due to my They'll teach you to do certain position because they can be worked into a pin. It doesn't matter that the position leaves you vulnerable to getting slugged. The id...

Hello Rangers (and all others reading), It warms my heart to see a more up to date combatives course being taught to todays soldiers. Overall I believe the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu system to be one of the absolute best systems availible. That is not to say it is unbeatable or holds all the answers. But i...

Good morning Rangers, I noticed quite a few of you have your kids in martial arts. I wanted to share a link with you. If you are not familiar with MMA or grappling some of this might be boring to you. For those who can appreciate it I think you will be impressed. The video takes a minute to really g...

Thank you for the warm welcome. I am a little disappointed I did not receive a STFU. But after reading a few of the other introductions you might have your hands full. If anyone has a moment and the inclination I have a simple question that I certainly would not want to start a new thread to ask (an...

Introduction

Hello, I am methodically going through your site and forums for information. I am currently putting my OCS packet together and recognize the likelyhood of being branched Infantry. If that does happen I want to be fully prepared for the experience and get the best possible training. I am 34, been mar...
