Re: Boot durability

I am pretty hard on boots, so they better last more than a year. I thought the Lowa military line was supposed to be pretty decent, is there a reason you are not using them? I've heard the same about Lowas, but I haven't found anywhere within driving range who sells them, and I'd rather not buy boo...

Boot durability

Hi Rangers and others, I was wondering what you'd consider a reasonable length of time for a pair of boots to last. I bought a pair very similar to the ICBs last August, and the soles are now looking very worn. Would you expect to get more than a year's wear out of a pair of privately purchased boot...

Excellent post Doc! I'm currently being treated for Lyme disease which I contracted after a tick bite in May. I'd heard that you were only in danger if you had exposed skin....not true! I was bitten through my socks at the join between my boots and BDU pants. The tick came off when I removed my sock...

'The Three Meter Zone' by CSM J.D. Pendry is an excellent book with very insightful comments, and pointers on leadership. All in all a very useful book!

Ranger msg_dman, Are you suggesting that this should be a challenge for DEPs? It entails planning, stealth, not a little bravery (especially if the guy who's house it is is bigger than you), and a blatant disregard for social niceties, all of which are essential for skills for the combat soldier. So...

'A life changing experience'

You have got to read these reviews of his CD 'The Very Best of David Hasselhoff'. They are an absolute blast. I my opinion the funniest one is by a disappointed guy who'd actually bought the CD on the strength of the reviews. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-reviews/B00005Q8UG/ref=cm_cr_dp_...

Okay, what was supposed to happen?

I tried it twice, and the only thing I saw was that my wall was out of focus for a few seconds.

Hardly life changing........unless it means I need glasses.

It was originally Billy Connolly's (a famous Scottish comedian) sketch called 'Ivan The Terrible', and dates from the late seventies or early eighties. Very funny indeed, I had to go and search through my CDs after reading your post Ranger UGC. His sketch called 'The Crucifixion' is on the same CD, ...

Cleaning M16 type rifles

Hello Rangers and others. I was recently asked a question regarding the cleaning of the gas tube on our issue rifle (Canadian C7). It's not mentioned at all in the manual. Is it necessary to clean it? Or does the carbon and powder residue get blown clear every time the rifle is fired? Personally, I'...

Yes, Ranger Horned Toad, they are now official!

I think it happened at the same time as 16 Air Assault Brigade were formed.
