Re: Ranger school/rasp/75th.
I'm trying to keep sane over here in the Helmand. I don't get on very often as it is usually a pain with the internet. Good to hear from you guys too!

Re: Ranger school/rasp/75th.
Well shit in a bucket! We got us another Vossman in the wire eh? Unless his mom is a hot model (the only kind I banged) I don't think I'm involved in this one. By the way, maybe we call him Vossman26 instead of my handle?

Re: Ranger School in the National Guard
MSchrute95 that might have been the longest post I have seen on the internet without a grammatical or punctual error (that I could see anyway) and I commend you for that. That shows much attention to detail and that detail transfers over to other parts of your life. Most good! It's late so I'm not g...

Re: Ranger School in the National Guard
Glad to be of service in your venture! It sounds like you have a helpful recruiter but take some of what he says with a grain of salt. Unless he has been in the unit you want to join, he is just reading from a piece of paper. You definitely want to go to the unit ahead of time. That is a major advan...

Re: Ranger School in the National Guard
I will speak strictly from the Guard aspect and strictly about visiting and joining so I don't speak out of turn. Indeed if you go into a unit and start talking about how your chances are to go to Ranger School, you will get laughed at for sure. In my case, my hangar is attached to an armory and tha...

If you are close by, go there in person. It's always better to ask questions face to face

Re: Ranger School in the National Guard
The best way to find out OPTEMPO is to visit the unit. All guard units have a readiness NCO or OIC. They will give you the history of their deployments and when you could expect to go again. I am aviation so my schedule is very different than ground guys but I have deployed 3 times in less than 10 y...

Re: How One Man Went From Playing Guitar in Nirvana to the Army Special Forces
Jason was in my platoon when he first got in. Seemed like a nice enough guy and fairly quiet. We didn't hang out together but it was neat knowing him.

Re: Plates
As far as the AR500 steel goes, they are all the rage for shooting at. Every sniper wannabe has to go out and buy a target made out of AR500 so they can shoot it with their 308s at 25 yards. As far as using it for body armor, I don't know.

Re: Gun safes...
My room has a digital pad. After talking to the president of the company that made the door, I was convinced it was a secure way to go. It doesn't lose the combo when the battery goes dead neither. Anything is hackable, just needs time. If a guy was to bring a torch with him, my door could be penetr...

As a general rule, I oil up the guns once every winter. I don't use a golden rod and only rely on the safe itself. I would not recommend going much longer between wipings though. An ounce of prevention in this case is well worth any time wasted
